"Doorway to the South Hills"
The City of Hansen is a small farming community with a population just over 1,000. Nestled on the old highway heading to Burley, Idaho, this town is also the turning point when heading toward the South Hills, which is a popular fishing, camping, skiing, and recreation area. Local small businesses include South Hills Bar & Grill, T&T Cafe, and The Town Tavern.
Just north of Hansen is the Hansen Bridge, which was said to be one of the highest spans in the U.S. at one time. The Rock Creek Station and Stricker Homestead is located nearby that includes the Stricker House, Rock Creek Store, a pioneer cemetery, and numerous outbuildings to see. This historic site is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was an early transportation center serving the Oregon Trail, Overland Mail Stage Route, and the Kelton Freight Road.
