Lincoln County

Home to the largest public volcano cave in the world!

Lincoln County was established in 1895 and named after President Abraham Lincoln, under whose administration the Idaho territory was established. With a population of 5,316 (2014), the county is comprised of three towns, Dietrich, Richfield and Shoshone, located 40 miles northeast of Twin Falls.

Lincoln County is home to the Shoshone Ice Caves, Black Magic Canyon and Idaho's Mammoth Cave, the largest volcanic cave in the world open to the public. Just an hour from the world-class ski and resort area Sun Valley, Lincoln County has all the unique recreation you need for you and your family!

The county is ideally located right on US Highway 93 and has direct access to rail transportation. Also dubbed the “Gateway to Sun Valley,” Lincoln County is strategically situated between two of the region’s larger cities, Twin Falls and Hailey, ID. This location has allowed larger manufacturing facilities like Rocky Mountain Hardware to call Lincoln County home, as well as support a vibrant small business community.

Pro-Business Climate
Lincoln County is proud to have robust support for its local businesses through the Shoshone Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, providing members with a strong business voice, vision and focused leadership to enhance the economic vitality and quality of life in the community. To make your company’s relocation, expansion or start-up easy and cost-effective, Lincoln County provides competitive incentives like property tax abatements for incoming businesses.
