The Southern Idaho region boasts a beautiful four-season climate with sunny and dry summer months and a chillier winter season—perfect for snowy adventures. In fact, our region’s winter months range from 37°F in the day to 21°F at night and see an average 11 in. of snow annually.

Whether you’re a fan of the cold or prefer to stay warm, Southern Idaho offers something for everyone. Here’s a sample of the “Cool Things” to do in our region in winter:

Hit the Slopes – The well-groomed slopes at beautiful Pomerelle Mountain or nearby world-class Sun Valley are perfect for skiers and snowboarders alike.
Take a Turn on the Ice – Whether you can glide like the Olympians or you’re just a beginner, Southern Idaho offers skating spots like:
  • Sun Valley’s indoor and outdoor ice rinks for all ages—and you might even run into an Olympic skater or two.
  • Hailey’s Campion Ice House offers skating classes, hockey games and public skating times for everyone to enjoy.

Melt Away the Cold – Defrost in the most relaxing way—soak in natural 90°+ natural hot springs at several nearby locations, including Miracle Hot Springs and Banbury Hot Springs. Enjoy the warmth of the hot springs, book a trip to the spa or get a massage or relax at the nearby camping sites.

Snow Shoe on the Moon – Take snowshoeing to another planet by trekking through the marvelous Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.
